KUCHING, Oct 12: More than 300 participants from the public and private sectors, including from higher learning institutes, took part in the e-Sarawak Public Service Innovation Day and Week 2020 event.
According to Deputy State Secretary Datu Dr Sabariah Putit, the event themed “Innovation For Service Delivery Excellence” is in line with the Sarawak government’s intention to expose participants to innovation and creativity, especially civil servants, to further improve the quality of services in Sarawak.
“The objective of the programme is one of the initiatives and efforts of the state government and federal agencies to raise awareness on the importance of productivity to be more competitive and innovative,” said Sabariah who was representing State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion at a live webinar session to launch the event today.
She pointed out that productivity is an important element to propel Malaysia towards developed economy status and also to be an inclusive country.
She noted that productivity is essential to the long-term success of an organisation and increases in productivity will also improve competitiveness.
“As a continuous step to increase productivity and competitiveness in today’s competitive and challenging environment, every organisation and company needs to continuously improve service efficiency in order to remain relevant. So a systematic approach is needed to produce innovative and creative thinking.
“Improvements are not only in introducing new products or services, but also to improve existing services to be more efficient with lower cost, and at the same time, provide satisfaction to customers and consumers,” she added.
The “e-Sarawak Public Service Innovation Day and Week 2020” event is the first “eProductivity Day” organised through an online platform by Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) and Sarawak government.
Among the activities held during the event were a sharing session with the founder of SukaSucre Bistro Datuk Fadzley Yaakob, an MPC online games showcase, and a prize presentation for a short video contest. — DayakDaily
