‘Limbang Waterfront project to be completed by 2021’

LIMBANG: The RM60-million Limbang Waterfront upgrading project is expected to be fully completed by 2021.

In stating this, Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the project was divided into two phases.

“Limbang will have the longest waterfront in Sarawak once the waterfront project with a total length of 1.6km is fully completed by 2021.

“This Limbang Waterfront would be the main development icon for the people here,” he said when met during the presentation of Limbang Waterfront Upgrading Project Phase 2 Contract at Limbang District Council yesterday.

The Bukit Kota assemblyman said phase one of the project was progressing well.

The one-km phase one project costing RM30 million is expected to complete by July next year, he added.

The remaining 600-metre second phase project is scheduled to start in January next year and expected to complete in July 2021.

“This project once completed would be another tourism and economic attraction for northern part of Sarawak because Limbang is located near Brunei.”

He further said the waterfront upgrading project was announced and approved by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“This waterfront project would be connecting the Taman Tasik Bukit Mas and Limbang Town Square.

“Besides other recreational facilities, more than 400 parking lots would be provided under the project.”

Also present were Limbang District Council chairman Sufian Mohat, deputy chairman Dahlan Dullah and secretary Petrick Linggie Taboh.
