Finance Asia stated that the valuation of OVO has reached US$2.9 billion or more than IDR40 trillion Earlier this year, former OVO Director Johnny Widodo (now CEO of BeliMobilGue) stated in an interview with CNBC Indonesia that the digital payments platform has become one of the startups with more than US$1 billion valuations –a title commonly known as a unicorn. Poll shows M’sian workers need tech know-how for IR4.0

PETALING JAYA: More than 60% of Malaysians surveyed expect their jobs to be taken over by automation in the next five to 10 years. However, 87% of those polled feel equipped to deal with the new wave of digitalisation. According to the latest Q2 2019 Randstad Workmonitor study, 63% out of the 400 Malaysians polled expected their jobs to be automated, which is 12% higher compared with Singapore. Malaysia is still considered 29 points or 34% higher than the global average of those who expect their jobs to be taken over by machines. The survey noted that 89%, or close…

Malaysia’s Kenanga Investors launches fund for investing in unicorns

The Malaysia-based investor firm said the fund seeks to provide investments to unicorn startups Kenanga Investors Berhad (“Kenanga Investors”), a subsidiary of Kenanga Investment Bank, announced that it has launched Kenanga Global Unicorn 1 (KGU1), which aims for medium-term returns by investing in unicorn companies. The fund feeds into the Ericsenz-K2 Global Unicorn Fund, which involves two VC firms (Ericsenz and K2 Global) heading the investment strategy. It will be managed by Ericsenz Capital, a Singapore-based venture capital and private equity firm.
