D-VIRTUAL PARK
KOTA SAMARAHAN: The RM13-million invested in Serba Dinamik’s D-Virtual Park at Jalan Meranek here would be a catalyst for many entrepreneurs, said Serba Dinamik Group Berhad chairman Datuk Abdul Kadier Sahib.
The virtual reality theme park, according to him, was built by Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad with virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and the first hologram technology in Borneo equipped with a creative studio.
“The theme park came into existence following a series of events involving the Sophia robot that was brought to Kuching and Kuala Lumpur in July 2019 to expose locals to the digital economy and the Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0.
“The response to the initiatives in innovation and technology highlighted by the Sophia robot at that time in Kuching was very remarkable among people from all walks of life,” he said.
Abdul Kadier said this in his speech at the closing of Sarawak and Sabah Tube 7.0 Programme and Exchange of memorandum of understanding (MOU) documents between SME Corp Malaysia and Serba Dinamik at D-Virtual Park here yesterday.
He said the Serba DigitalX platform that applies the concept of ‘open innovation platform’ and ‘Startup Borneo’ are parts of the local community development which provides opportunity for locals to venture into entrepreneurship.
“And thus making the area one of the locations of choice to carry out new innovation development activities especially in the digital field.
“We have chosen Kota Samarahan because it is ‘Kota Ilmu’ (city of knowledge) where most of the students are among our people.
“Therefore, Serba Dinamik as a Bumiputera company has chosen Kota Samarahan to establish D-Virtual Park,” he explained.
On another note, the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Serba Dinamik Group Berhad and SME Corp Malaysia was also held during the programme.
Serba Dinamik was represented by Abdul Kadier himself with SME Corp represented by its chief executive officer (CEO) Rizal Nainy. The signing was witnessed by Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar
It is understood that the MOU signing would see both parties working together to strengthen the development and implementation of the Innovation and Urban Garage Hub for SMEs in Malaysia.
Accordingly, Serba Dinamik has played its role through the creation of D-Virtual Park with related technologies while SME Corp is set to design and implement capacity development programmes as well as provide consultation services for the use of digital equipment in business operations to local entrepreneurs.
Abdul Kadier explained that he welcomed the MOU in hopes that good cooperation between the two parties in developing a one-stop centre for innovation and transformation would produce world-class local entrepreneurs.
SME Corp chairman Datuk Seri Syed Hussien Al-Habshee is confident that the cooperation between the two parties would provide a platform to help youngsters venture into more technological and digital entrepreneurship.
“We have a good experience with the business concept presented by the Serba Dinamik. It will attract the youth to make this place as one of the new focus of their business,” he said.
Also taking place yesterday was a ceremony for the handover of mock cheques to four recipients of the Bumiputera Enterprises Enhancement Programme (BEEP) as well as other assistance.
