KUALA LUMPUR: Borneo’s very first virtual reality (VR) theme park is expected to be launched in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak by Serba Dinamik next month.
Serba Dinamik group managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah believes that D-Virtual Park has enough content to entertain visitors of all ages.
“This project has received tremendous support and a big thumbs-up from the Sarawak government as well as various agencies.
“It will be very beneficial for many people,” he said during an interview at Menara Serba Dinamik here yesterday.
He pointed out that this would be Malaysia’s first ever VR theme park to include hologram technology.
According to him, besides being an amusement centre, the idea behind D-Virtual Park is to create an ecosystem for the younger generation to be able to channel their creativity.
The park offers a variety of VR entertainment, including a flight simulator called VR Elevation D’Luxe and a battleground simulator called VR Knight Rider.
“We are collaborating with a Sarawak-based start-up called Startup Borneo on this project,” said Mohd Abdul Karim.
“We have put in an investment of RM8 million for the park, combined with this is RM5 million funding for Startup Borneo – making RM13 million in total,” he added.
Other services offered by the park are the Giga Virtual Café as well as hosting events, parties, and celebrations.
Serba Dinamik is targeting half a million park visitors per year, comprising tourists and locals.
