Banker Hasnita is new Mara chief, Mydin and ex-Proton boss onboard
PETALING JAYA: The Prime Minister’s Office today announced Hasnita Hashim as the new chairman of the government’s Bumiputera economic powerhouse Mara, alongside the appointment of six new board members comprising a who’s who of prominent Malaysians.

Hasnita, who has a PhD in nuclear physics from Oxford, is currently a board member of Maybank Banking Bhd, and heads the Maybank Asset Management Group.
She began her career in London as an actuary in prominent accounting firm Coopers & Lybrand Deloitte.
The six new incoming members, meanwhile, include former CEO of Proton, Tengku Mahaleel Tengku Ariff and retail giant Mydin boss, Ameer Ali Mydin.
Others are International Islamic University rector Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) chairman Nungsari Ahmad Radhi, Syed Tamim Ansari Syed Mohamed and Zakri Khir.
