RESONICS Consultancy together with policy makers and Global Science and Innovation Advisory Council’s think-thank optimistic that Malaysia can build great smart cities especially in Sarawak and to achieve sustainable development goals for the country

Kuala Lumpur, 13 FEB: The ninth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF9) took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from Wednesday, 7 February, to Tuesday, 13 February 2018, on the theme “Cities 2030 – Cities For All: Implementing the New Urban Agenda.” WUF9 also welcomed UN-Habitat’s new Executive Director, Maimunah Mohd Sharif, former Mayor of Penang, Malaysia.
Global Science and Innovation Advisory Council (GSIAC) Smart Cities Alliance have hosted a networking event on the final day of WUF9. The China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) was among one of those being invited to present at the networking event to share on their smart cities experiences and latest development initiatives in Malaysia. The CREC’s Head of Business Development, Dato‘ Abd Hamid Mohamed, shared his views on current urban-rural landscape and values of thriving cities around the world and how sustainable smart city will become a key economic driver for Malaysia. Dato‘ Abd Hamid Mohamed has highlighted on integrated infrastructure and city planning as an important factor in order to enable smart city development and to accelerate economic growth of cities in Malaysia especially Sarawak.

According to Abdul Qaiyum Alidin, Chief Technical Officer of RESONICS Consultancy “GSIAC Smart Cities Alliance is an excellent platform for industry players and policy makers to discuss and get latest updates on cities development in Malaysia and around the world and also to network and exchange ideas. I’m looking forward to more productive engagement with GSIAC and fellow members at Malaysian Industry-Government Group for Higher Technology (MiGHT). We appreciate GSIAC Smart Cities Alliance for inviting Sarawak representatives to WUF9 and we would further collaborate in building more sustainable smart cities especially in Sarawak and to contribute to the country’s sustainable development goals.” On 21st November 2017 at the 13th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), RESONICS Consultancy signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation with University of Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) on Smart City and Industry 4.0 initiatives in Sarawak.

Dr Chua Rhan See, Principal Assistant Director for Research Development Division of the Housing and Local Government Federal Department of Town and Country Planning (Plan Malaysia) also presented at WUF9. At the event Dr Chua shared her views on city’s index as a guideline for development planning. RESONICS Consultancy aims to position cities in Sarawak such as Kota Samarahan and Kuching as an ‘Integrated Smart Ecosystem’ hub for technology development and entrepreneurship in the country. RESONICS Consultancy have inked partnering deals with industry majors such as FinTech4Good (United States), Umadx (China), Unmanned Integrated Systems (Singapore), Vibratec (France), Powernode Solution (Malaysia), Vybe Engineering (Malaysia), K-HEC (Malaysia) and soon securing few massive foreign investments for future development in Sarawak.
